The story of the Red Delicious began in 1872 in Iowa, where a man named Jesse Hiatt discovered it by chance on his land. This succulent fruit has been given many names over the years: Hawkeye, then Delicious, and finally Red Delicious, to distinguish it from the Golden Delicious.
